Way Underway!

Wow,

It has been busy few weeks for the Lupovs. Ivan has officially completed the first 3 weeks of his training schedule. Its been more than 4 years since he has run 6 miles on back to back to back days :o)

Mackenzie is incredibly busy with work but manages to find time to get on the treadmill at home almost daily. Needless to say, having endless supply of chick flicks and a treadmill right in front of our TV, is a great set up.

This is the first time since college that both of us have been this active this late in the winter.

Two weeks ago, Ivan took Talia's suggestion of running through Eagle Creek Park as the best possible route for 11 mile run. For those of you who do not know, Eagle Creek Park is supposedly the largest one of its kind in the mid-West. Therefore making a loop of 10 miles should be an easy task! - theoretically speaking.

Ivan began his run from the Lupovs house which is about a mile away from the main South Gate of the Park. Prior to entering, he had to stop by the admissions booth, remove his iPod headset, and pay his admission to the amazement of the 2 old ladies working there. I guess not many people run into the park! - this suspicion was further confirmed by the massive amount of parked vehicles at every possible parking spot.

Fortunately enough, Ivan had the foresight to ask for a map - knowing how easily lost he can be on any given day. Having briefly glanced at it, the plan was to run an out-and-back-route - due to what appeared to be a very long single road cutting deep into the park. With the head set back on - iPod set on some fast pace Green Day song and the map tucked away, he continued on with the run.

Surprisingly enough, before the Green Day song was even over, the long single road came to an end. “Boy that was odd!” – Ivan said to himself. He pulled out the map and tried to find the magnification scale with no success. So what was intended to be a long out-and-back run in the Midwest’s largest State Park, turned out to be crisscrossing/orienteering adventure. Attached is a map with what ended up being the route Ivan took.
